The Kentucky Theatre would like you to spend at least a few moments in these chilly months thinking about what you would like to see when it’s a lot warmer and the Summer Classics series unspools.
In a notice to members of the Kentucky’s email list and posted on the theater’s Facebook page, film booker Larry Thomas says he is already looking at a restored 60th anniversary print of The African Queen and a new print of The Princess Bride – I still have trouble dealing with movies that came out when I was in high school being called “classics.” People leaving comments on the Kentucky’s website are making a bunch of great suggestions, with mini-movements afoot for the original Invasion of the Body Snatchers and Metropolis.
There is no time limit on suggestions, but it’s pretty easy to weigh in. The classics series will run Wednesdays during the summer with matinée and evening screenings May 25-Aug. 31.
